While hardworking Kenyans wake up very early every Monday to go out and fetch for themselves. There is a greedy and selfish group of police officers who dawn to engage in impunity. There are around 3 roadblocks between Kisumu and Katito town where the cops have the opportunity to extort money from matatu operators, failure to which the rogue officers deflate your Tyre. This can even lead to an accident, depending on the speed at which the vehicle was moving.

An Acacia and Disciple nissans that had left Kisumu  at 5.30 am today, 25th July 2016  for Homabay narrowly escaped an accident, when traffic police appeared unnoticed as the 2 vehicles approached Katito and demanded that the vehicles stop.  The driver of the first vehicle, Acacia Nissan obliged  and gave the cops sh100  bribe as the other vehicle attempted to make its way and carry on with its journey.

The traffic police officers using the Police vehicle of registration GKB 813J threw Spike strips on the moving Disciple vehicle that deflated the tyre and made the vehicle lose control, swerving outside the highway. All because of sh100 bribe. When the travelers questioned the cops, they got inside the Land Cruiser registration GKB 813J and sped of. This happened at 6am.

Spike strips are designed to stop and disable vehicles. This technology has the potential to Force protection and Vehicle checkpoint operations. They are a hand em placed, prefabricated strip of materiel with embedded, hollow steel spikes used to impede vehicle progression. Spiked strips cause a rapid deflation of tires within 10 seconds, allowing for controlled deceleration at access control points and checkpoints. Multiple Services employ this device.

Can the National Police Service intervene on behalf of the innocent passengers who lose their lives daily due to incompetent traffic officers.
